چکیده

This paper proposes a new systolic array architectures for computation of the 1-D discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The proposed systolic array consists of L processing element (PE) arrays, where L denotes the number of levels. The proposed PE array computes only the product terms that are required for further computation in higher levels, and the outputs of lowpass and highpass lters are computed in alternate clock cycles. Therefore, the proposed architectures can compute the one-level DWT using a single architecture. Note that the proposed architectures do not require extra processing units whereas the conventional architectures need ones. The required time and hardware cost for computation of the DWT using the proposed systolic arrays are comparable to that of the conventional architectures. The proposed architectures can also be applied to subband decomposition by simply changing the lter coe cients.

An integrated systolic array design for video compression

This paper presents an integrated systolic array design for implementing full-search block matching, 2-D discrete wavelet transform, and full-search vector quantization on the same VLSI architecture. The above three functions are prime essential but with large amount of computation in video compression. To meet real-time requirement, many systolic arrays are designed for individually performing...

Unified systolic arrays for computation of the DCT/DST/DHT

|In this paper, we propose uni ed systolic arrays for computation of the 1-D and 2-D discrete cosine transform/discrete sine transform/discrete Hartley transform (DCT/DST/DHT). By decomposing the transforms into evenand odd-numbered frequency samples, the proposed architecture computes the 1-D DCT/DST/DHT. Compared to the conventional methods the proposed systolic arrays exhibit advantages in t...

A survey of architectures for the discrete and continuous wavelet transforms

Wavelet transforms have proven to be useful tools for several applications, including signal analysis, signal coding, and image compression. This paper surveys the VLSI architec-tures that have been proposed for computing the Discrete and Continuous Wavelet Transforms for 1-D and 2-D signals. The proposed architectures range from SIMD arrays to folded architectures such as systolic arrays and p...

An FPGA-Based Parallel Distributed Arithmetic Implementation of the 1-D Discrete Wavelet Transform

The fine grained parallelism inherent in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) may be well exploited to implement the computation-intensive discrete wavelet transform, which is increasingly employed in multimedia consumer electronics. In this paper, we describe a parallel implementation of the discrete wavelet transform and its inverse using Virtex FPGAs. We make maximal utilization of the loo...

High impedance fault detection: Discrete wavelet transform and fuzzy function approximation

This paper presets a method including a combination of the wavelet transform and fuzzy function approximation (FFA) for high impedance fault (HIF) detection in distribution electricity network. Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) has been used in this paper as a tool for signal analysis. With studying different types of mother signals, detail types and feeder signal, the best case is selected. The...
